Fort Worth

It's funny how now that I live in Wichita Falls, it seems like Fort Worth is so close.  Who would have ever thought that I would consider a 2 hour car drive "not that far"?  Well I do, and it's great!

We have been on the go lately, and today we drove down to grab a little TCU wear, nom on some Uncle Julio's, visit our sweet animal friends at the Fort Worth Zoo, and take Mr. Cade to the cardiologist to check on his little heart murmur.  Followed by a quick zip into the local Central Market, to stock up on the necessities!

The day went perfectly.  We picked up some TCU shirts for Trey and some game day gear for the kids.  We have some future frogs on our hands, good thing they both look good in purple and love frogs!  After lunch with Sarah and the kids, we zipped on over to the zoo to meet up with our sweet friend Stephanie and her girls.  They kept Vivi while Trey, Cade and I went over to Cooks Children's Hospital to meet with the cardiologist.  Fortunately the visit went great!  The doctor confirmed that he has a VSD, which is the most common form of heart defect.  There are a couple of possible outcomes related to the VSD, the most likely being that it just sporadically closes up on its own.  This could happen any day or in many years, but it won't have any impact on his ability to grow, or play sports a few years down the line.  What a relief!  We will follow up again when he is 6 months old!

Fort Worth Zoo

Today we made a trip into Fort Worth to go to the zoo with Sarah, Beth and all the kiddos.  It was a great way to spend President's Day, since the kids did not have school.  The weather cooperated perfectly and though it was a little chilly in Wichita Falls it was in the upper 60's in Fort Worth.  Vivi was extremely interested in the monkeys, she thought they were so funny!  She also loved riding on the carousel in the Texas Wild! exhibit as well as petting the baby longhorn.  This was the first time that she had ever been to the Fort Worth Zoo, and the first time for me in a very long time.  We were able to walk through the Museum of Living Art exhibit that focuses on insects and amphibians.  It was very interesting, though not my favorite.  Hope y'all enjoyed your President's Day!
